Minoxidil and Formula 82M

Minoxidil and Formula 82M

Hair Transplant & Restoration Center

Minoxidil (Rogaine) was the first topical treatment for women’s hair loss to gain FDA approval and now can be obtained as an over the counter treatment. The 2% foam solution has been the traditional concentration for women, but now the once-a-day application of the 5% solution is approved and clinically shown to promote hair growth for women with actively growing hair follicles as well as significantly reduce visible hair loss.

Dr. Gray is also able to offer a prescription strength Minoxidil called Formula 82M. This is a prescription solution mix of Minoxidil, Retin A, and a weak steroid that increases the penetration of the Minoxidil, enhancing its efficacy. At HT&RC, Minoxidil can be combined with treatments like laser therapy and PRP to get maximum results.

Regrow and reinvigorate

One in three women will notice that her hair is thinning. As women age, hormones can make hair follicles miniaturize, resulting in thinner, wispier, and less resilient hair. In addition, recent studies have indicated that some Female Pattern Hair Loss (FPHL) is caused by a subclinical inflammatory process, Prescription strength Minoxidil restarts the active growth phase of the hair-growth cycle to improve thickness, and fullness.

    Can Medications Cause Hair Loss?

The answer is “yes”.  Some medications CAN lead to hair loss, called Telogen Effluvium. Telogen effluvium is a form of diffuse, nonscarring hair loss that is usually temporary but could be more permanent and results from premature shedding of hair. Medication isn’t the only source of TE; major surgery, serious illness, childbirth, dieting, and severe emotional stress can also prompt shedding.
