At Hair Transplant & Restoration Center, we pride ourselves on always offering the latest hair restoration technology. We are excited to announce one of the newest advanced technologies we are now offering – Hair Follicle Regeneration!

If you’re among the millions of American women affected by androgenetic alopecia or age-related thinning, this could be a promising solution for you.

Hair Follicle Regeneration technology uses growth factors that have been applied in medicine recently for healing and restoring damaged tissues and injured body parts. This technology is now being applied to those experiencing thinning hair.

Hair Follicle Regeneration utilizes your body’s natural healing components to fight hair loss by stimulating your scalp and hair at the same time, improving the blood supply to each hair. Hair Follicle Regeneration can be useful when existing hair follicles are not overly miniaturized. The farther you are into hair loss is when timing becomes more critical.

Many patients appreciate that Hair Follicle Regeneration does not require a lot of downtime, and the procedure itself can generally be done in an hour and a half. The process is simple; blood is drawn and then placed in a centrifuge, which separates the red blood cells from the plasma. Plasma is rich with growth factors that can help encourage hair growth.

Since it leverages actively growing hair, it’s important to seek treatment before miniaturization becomes advanced. Like most treatments, Hair Follicle Regeneration works best before there is a lot of permanent hair loss.

Who is a good candidate for Hair Follicle Regeneration?

Like most hair medical treatments, the Hair Follicle Regeneration works best before there is a lot of permanent hair loss.

The best results can be expected by women whose hair loss can be classified as Type I or Type II (mild or moderate) on the Ludwig Scale.

What to Expect During Hair Follicle Regeneration Treatment

Through a quick and painless process, Dr. Gray creates a sample of specifically concentrated growth factors by drawing a sample of blood, and spinning the blood sample in the centrifuge to isolate the platelets which contain the protein growth factors. This is processed in a sonicator for 30 minutes to fully release growth factors, and then injected into the scalp. You will be awake throughout the treatment, but the doctor will numb your scalp so that you don’t feel any pain. He then uses a tiny needle to inject the treatment into areas of the scalp where hair growth is needed. There’s no downtime, and the treatment helps the injection sites to heal very quickly. Dr. Gray will use photographs to document the change in your hair and scalp as your hair grows.

Things to be aware of:

  • Please shampoo your hair and cleanse your scalp about 24 hours before treatment.
  • Sewn-in or glued-on hairpieces should be removed before arrival.
  • There is typically no downtime directly after therapy, as the Hair Follicle Regeneration helps the injection sites heal very quickly. Your scalp might feel numb for a few hours, but you can promptly resume your usual hair care routine.
  • Because of the small needle used, there are usually no visible signs of treatment on the scalp.
  • Dr. Gray will use photographs to document the change in your hair and scalp as your hair grows.
  • Although it doesn’t happen to every female, you should be aware that shedding may occur after a Hair Follicle Regeneration treatment. Initial shedding should resolve on its own, and is NOT permanent. How long shedding will last varies from person to person, but there should be more benefit in the long run from high levels of growth factors in the Hair Follicle Regeneration treatment than any short-term shedding you may experience.

What Our Patients are Saying About Hair Follicle Regeneration

The pain with Hair Follicle Regeneration was very minimal. Dr. Grays strives very hard to minimize all discomfort. By the second treatment, just knowing what was going to happen and with his technique, virtuously it was painless. He did bacteriostatic saline, which I thought was amazing, I did not feel the needle stick in my arm from when he drew the blood. He did a topical block around my scalp, there were a few very very minimal little sticks, but it was way less, way less (pain) than receiving an injection or having blood drawn at a local facility. This was great.

I've noticed a fullness already (by my third treatment) on my crown where I had the Hair Follicle Regeneration injections done (where my areas of concern were), and I would say I first noticed this change in about two and a half to three months. A month after my first treatment, I noticed that my hair wasn't falling out as much as it was. I decided to do Hair Follicle Regeneration because I wanted to grow my natural hair back out as much as possible before I decided to do anything else, and there were more scientific studies to back up this treatment."
