This patient had varying densities in his beard and wanted more consistent, even density in the chin, mustache, and cheeks.
In cases where I am transplanting beard to beard, I usually take all donor from the beard. However, this patient wanted to keep heavy density under his chin and requested that we combine the scalp and beard donor.
So, he flew in for a transplant that involved donor from both beard and scalp. I limited the harvest area from the beard, combined it with the scalp donor, and mixed it together before implanting. I harvested both beard and scalp follicles with FUE technique.
I transplanted a total of 2420 grafts. 1920 of these grafts were from his scalp and 500 were from his beard. The follicles were then implanted as follows: 400 into the mustache, 400 into the chin, 450 into the lower cheek area and 360 into the upper cheek area.

As you can see, the result was excellent, with the densities of his chin, mustache, and cheeks being more consistent after the transplant.
