Continuing Research and Education at the Orlando Live Surgery Workshop

20th Annual Orlando Live Surgery Workshop

Last month, Dr. Gray participated in the four-day Orlando Live Surgery Workshop where world renowned hair transplant experts convened for the 20th annual conference and workshop in Maitland, Florida.

Dr. Gray is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, one of the main sponsors for the workshop and recognized as the leading Hair Restoration Surgery society in the industry working to promote unity in the field, ongoing research, and excellent standards.

Dr. Matt Leavitt, founder and chair of the workshop, commented on the benefits of attending this year’s conference, “We have created a cutting-edge curriculum that has something for everyone – from novice to advanced hair restoration surgeons – with unmatched clinical training performed by leading experts in the field.”

As the Orlando Live Surgery Workshop focuses on the newest technology and research in the industry, Dr. Gray had the opportunity to learn about a new technique used in follicular unit transplant surgery to assist in wound closure when there is not enough laxity in the scalp for a tension free closure. “Hylenex, a hyaluronidase human injection, causes a release of collagen bonds to allow the tissue to stretch and the wound to close without tension on the suture line.”

Highlights from the four-day Orlando Live Surgery Workshop include:

  • Latest techniques in eyebrow and eyelash transplantation
  • Update on efficacy of lasers for hair growth
  • The importance of hairline design
  • Considerations for female or ethnic patients
  • FUE surgical demonstrations with range of devices, including the newest robot technology
  • Update on emerging therapies: hair multiplication/cloning
