When I see a patient, I try to understand their goals and expectations and then attempt to align their treatment choices to meet their expectations. This patient came to see me wanting good density over the top of her head; after determining she was a Ludwig II-2 and discussing what she was hoping to achieve with a treatment, a hair transplant would be needed to achieve her desired density. To help her confidently move forward with this option, I explained and educated why there was no stand-alone non-surgical medical treatment to meet her expectations. I planned a FUT procedure of 5023 grafts, and I also treated the entire top of her head with our “Hair Follicular Regeneration” treatment as part of the procedure. The patient also used Topical Rogaine, Help Hair Nutrients, and Laser Hair Therapy.

These postop pics, taken just 8-months after surgery, show she has had tremendous growth - her part is growing new hair full of volume. Her scalp is hard to see and she is delighted with her results so far!
Years ago, I was taught to only transplant a limited number of grafts on females because of potential shock loss. But I incorporated Hair Follicle Regeneration treatment with every transplant, which helps with healing and growth. As a result, I found my female patients had minimal shock loss postop, and more often than not, would need another transplant to provide more density. So a couple of years ago, I began doing larger cases with more grafts on women who needed the density. As you can see, this transplant's density is excellent and could not have been achieved with a limited transplant with fewer grafts.
